Stacie Layne Virden, O.D. attended Stephen F. Austin State University where she completed her pre-optometry courses. Accepted into the University of Houston College Optometry through early admissions, she concurrently completed her Bachelor of Science in Optometry and Doctor of Optometry degrees in 1995 and 1997, respectively.
Dr. Virden is certified nationally in the treatment and management of ocular disease and is a state board licensed glaucoma specialist. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Texas Optometric Association since 2003. She has held numerous leadership roles within the association, culminating in her election as President in 2009. Dr. Virden received the honor of TOA Young Optometrist of the Year in 2003. She has also served as President of the Heart of Texas Optometric Society and is a member of the Cornea and Contact Lens Section of the American Optomtric Association.
Dr. Virden volunteers with many local organizations as well. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Animal Birth Control Clinic as well as chairing the City of Waco Animal Control Advisory Board. She is a member of the Rotary Club of Waco, the Junior League of Waco, and Providence Forum. Dr. Virden is also a member of the Waco Chamber of Commerce and a graduate of Leadership Waco.
Dr. Virden is married to her high school sweetheart, Ryan, who majored in Civil Engineering at Texas A&M ('95) and is a licensed Professional Engineer with G.E. Walker & Associates. Stacie and Ryan live in Waco with their rescue dogs Target, Sascha, Lola (above), and Rex. They enjoy cooking, travel, and playing with cars.

Karen Summers, a therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist, is a fifth generation Texan. She received her Bachelors of Science degree from Texas A&M University in 2000. After graduation, she worked with optometrists and eye surgeons in a large practice in her hometown of Victoria, Texas. In 2006, she received her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry as well as the Dr. Robert Zipper Memorial Leadership Award for her involvement and leadership during her four years in Houston.
She completed a one-year residency outside of Boston, Massachusetts. There she gained extensive experience with ocular and systemic disease while getting the opportunity to work with a great population, our nation's Veterans.
Dr. Summers practiced outside of Dallas for over a year and decided to move to Central Texas in early 2009. She is active with the Heart of Texas Optometric Society as well as the Texas Optometric Association and is a member of the Academy of Optometry and American Optometric Association.
Dr. Summers enjoys spending time with friends and family and spoiling her two nieces. She enjoys cooking, travel and spending time outdoors.
